A chronicle of Afghan history
Three names referred to the country of Afghanistan during its history: in classical antiquity, Aryana, in the medieval age, Khurasan, and Afghanistan in the current era. Herat, Bactria and Kabul, however, were at some times sovereign kingdoms.
